From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 29-year-old was a key part of the Sussex side who won this season's County Championship but was told he could leave Hove due to next year's ruling which restricts counties to one overseas player, with his compatriot Mushtaq Ahmed taking that role.
Naved is set to link up with the Tykes in March but will undergo a thorough medical examination at the end of the year as Yorkshire assess his recovery from a serious injury to his right shoulder. Naved sustained the problem earlier this month while playing for Sussex at Chester-le-Street, where he slid into advertising hoardings.
The England leg-spinner Chris Schofield has signed a new contract to keep him at Surrey for a further two years. The 28-year-old moved to The Oval during the 2006 season from the minor county Suffolk. Since then he has played a key role for Surrey in both the one-day and four-day format of the game.
After a hugely successful domestic Twenty20 campaign where he took 17 wickets at an economy rate of six runs per over Schofield was rewarded with selection in England's squad for the World Twenty20 in South Africa this month.
Schofield took 50 wickets for Surrey this season at 25.22 as well as chipping in with 305 runs at an average of 20.33.
Northamptonshire have signed former South Africa all-rounder Andrew Hall on a three-year contract.
Hall announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this month after being omitted from the Proteas' World Twenty20 squad.
Pakistan's record-breaking batsman Mohammad Yousuf has made himself available for the upcoming Test series against South Africa after a meeting with his country's cricket authorities yesterday.
