NatWest to sponsor new series
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The NatWest Bank has expanded its sponsorship ties with English international cricket to include a new three-match one-day series for the next three years.
Having backed the triangular one-day tournament for the past three seasons, the NatWest will now sponsor a new additional series against a third country to take place at the beginning of each summer.
The NatWest Challenge will serve as a scene-setter for the international summer and is in line with the England coach Duncan Fletcher's call to increase the amount of one-day internationals played by his side.
Pakistan have been invited to play next summer ahead of the already scheduled visits of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
"This new addition will enable England to play a guaranteed nine days of competitive one-day international cricket each summer, supporting the England team management's desire to gain further experience in this form of the game," Tim Lamb, the England and Wales Cricket Board's chief executive, said.
