Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Australia crushed New Zealand by an innings and 156 runs in the first Test at the Gabba yesterday to retain the Trans-Tasman Trophy.
Trailing by 232 runs after the home side had amassed 585, the Kiwis were skittled for 76 in their second innings on the fourth day. The margin of defeat was New Zealand's second worst in all Tests against Australia and 76 was their lowest score in Australia. Only two batsmen reached double figures.
Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie had earlier starred with the bat, completing their first Test fifties. Labelled a "bunny" throughout his career, McGrath hit a career-best 61, the third highest score by a No 11 in Test cricket. McGrath then ripped through the top order with three early wickets. Shane Warne wiped out the tail with 4 for 15 from 10.2 overs.
