Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Andrew Hall, man of the match in Worcestershire's Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy semi-final victory, wants to stay at New Road next season.
Hall, a member of South Africa's Test squad, was released to play for Worcestershire in Saturday's semi-final with Lancashire, during which he bowled a double-wicket maiden in the last over to secure a six-run win. He has already been cleared by the Proteas to play in the final against Gloucestershire at Lord's on 30 August but is keen to extend his stay with the county into the 2004 season.
"I am hoping to get the future tied up soon. We've not had serious discussions yet but we are in the beginning stages," Hall said. "Hopefully everything will come off towards the end of the month and then we will know for certain where I stand.
"I think they are in a situation where they are waiting to find out exactly what is happening with their finances. But I'm keen to come back. I've had a tremendous time here."
Hall was a member of South Africa's one-day side in the NatWest Series but his form for the county meant he was called into the Test squad and he took five wickets in the innings victory at Lord's last weekend.
