From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chasing 323 to win, Nottinghamshire looked doomed when a batting collapse after tea saw them slump from 256 for 5 to 277 for 9, but Gallian found a staunch ally in the last man Greg Smith (16 not out) who helped him add 46 for the 10th wicket and clinch victory.
Matthew Maynard hit an unbeaten century to lead Glamorgan to a two-wicket victory over Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.
The hosts had set a target of 317 following a superb knock of 180 not out from opener Craig Spearman, but Maynard (118) and the captain Steve James, who scored 74, responded in style to overhaul Gloucestershire's total.
It was Glamorgan's fourth win of the season and left the home side struggling near the bottom of the Second Division.
* The Warwickshire opener Mark Wagh hit 86 but it was not enough to stop his side falling to a 119-run defeat against the touring West Indies A at Edgbaston.
After a rain-affected first day, the hosts had declared on 123 for 6 in their first innings, 235 behind the West Indies' total of 358, and the tourists took advantage with another assured performance with bat and ball. Resuming on 72 for 3, the West Indies set Warwickshire a considerable target of 371 and the hosts were bowled out for 251.
