Without the destructive opener Roy following a hamstring injury, the hosts have lost two of three games to move to the brink of a disastrous group stage exit.
But Roy is on the brink of a timely return at Edgbaston against India, with Virat Kohli’s side unbeaten and now firmly installed as favourites for the tournament.
“Jason is preparing to play tomorrow,” Morgan revealed at the pre-match press conference.
“Provided he gets through today’s practice and tomorrow morning unscathed, we think he might be fit to play.”
Morgan also added a decision on Roy will depend on the severity of the risk.
“It depends on the significance of the risk,” he said. “If it’s going to rule him out long-term, absolutely not. If it’s a couple of weeks, yes.”
Bowling sensation Jofra Archer is dealing with a side strain, handing Morgan a further headache.
“He didn’t bowl yesterday,” Morgan revealed. “We’re going to see how he comes through today. It’s the same thing he’s been playing with for the last three games. Again, the same thing applies.
“If it’s a long-term risk, no, if it’s a short term-risk, yes.”
