They have been struggling with illness all week and have yet to take the field since touching down in Johannesburg.
Even if the trio recover sufficiently ahead of the Boxing Day Test against the Proteas in Centurion, England will have to assess whether they are sufficiently prepared for a five-day battle.

England resumed on 337 for five, with Ollie Pope 70 not out and Jos Buttler unbeaten on 16.
