Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Former South Africa captain Hansie Cronje has been banned from playing for life by his national cricket board.
The United Cricket Board of South Africa said Cronje was barred from all of its and its affiliates' cricket-related activities.
It faxed its decision to Cronje's attorney, and Cronje has a week to reply.
The board said it took into account the evidence Cronje has presented to a public inquiry into South Africa's matchfixing scandal and his public declaration that he has severed all ties with cricket falling under the board's jurisdiction.
Cronje was axed as national captain in April, after Indian officials said they had tape recordings of his conversations with an Indian bookmaker during the team's tour of the subcontinent earlier this year.
Cronje initially denied any wrongdoing, but later told the commission he had taken about £70,000 from gamblers for providing match information.
