From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chris Woakes secured the bonus point required in an incisive opening spell that saw hapless Glamorgan reduced to 43 for 6. It was Woakes' third wicket – Michael Powell caught by Jonathan Trott – that earned the first bowling point and added the title and doubled their prize money to £30,000. Woakes finished with 6 for 68 as Glamorgan were dismissed for 193.
In the First Division, Adil Rashid and David Wainwright each hit hundreds in a Yorkshire rearguard which turned their relegation battle against Sussex on its head on the second day at Hove. The young spin twins proved their all-round ability to make a mockery of Yorkshire's initial struggle to 84 for 6. They added 316 for the loss of three tail-end wickets to declare on 400 for 9 declared, on a day which finished with their hosts 25 for 3 in reply.
