Ryan McLaren also notched impressive figures of 2 for 13 from his 10 overs, while Yasir Arafat recorded 2 for 32 from 10.
Kent's batsmen consolidated their fine start by reaching 147 for 5 thanks in the main to an entertaining 91 from Geraint Jones.
