From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Set 532 for victory at Kidderminster –New Road remains unplayable – the home side slipped to 158 for 4 by the close of day three.
Carberry's 120 was seven short of his first innings total and he shared in an opening stand worth 199 with Michael Brown, who made 88. John Crawley and Jimmy Adams added a brisk 162 for the second wicket at more than a run a ball to allow Shane Warne to declare whereupon Shaun Udal struck with his third ball and only Moeen Ali, with an unbeaten 73, did much to bar Hampshire's progress.
In the Second Division, Nottinghamshire captain Stephen Fleming hit an unbeaten 217 from 239 balls against Derbyshire at Chesterfield. Chris Read, who will take over from the departing Fleming as captain next year, also made 90 as Notts amassed an imposing 500 for 6 on the first day.
Promoted Somerset are favourites to win their match with Essex, and clinch the title, after they reached 50 for 1 chasing a victory target of 182 at Chelmsford.
Gloucestershire were forced to follow on against Middlesex at Bristol. Tim Murtagh took 4 for 36 as Gloucestershire were dismissed for 152 replying to 440, and they were 94 for 3 by the close in their attempt to salvage the game.
