From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

ZIMBABWE, TRAILING India by 59 runs after the first innings, were 219 for 2 in their second innings at the close on the third day of the one-off Test at Harare Sports Club.

Openers Gavin Rennie and Craig Wishart lifted Zimbabwe with an unbroken century partnership. Wishart struck an unbeaten 56 and Rennie scored 35 not out to spur Zimbabwe to 102 without loss at tea - 43 ahead.

India, 248 for 6 overnight, were dismissed for 280 during the morning session in reply to the home country's first innings of 221.

The tourists did not make the most of the new ball and squandered an early chance to break through.

Wishart escaped on 0 before lunch when Mohammad Azha-ruddin, fielding at second slip, dropped a catch off the bowling of debutant paceman Ajit Agar-kar. Paceman Henry Olonga completed his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket as India's last four wickets fell for 32.

Olonga reached his landmark in the sixth over of the day and finished with 5 for 70.
