From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rollins hit 113 to take Derbyshire most of the way towards a target of 233, which pulled them into the top half of the table and in a position to avoid relegation. Earlier, Trevor Smith took 5 for 63 to finish with 10 wickets in the match as Leicestershire's second innings realised only 197. Rollins put on 123 for the first wicket with Stephen Stubbings, and Derbyshire got home by four wickets.
Lancashire more or less made sure of First Division status next season with victory over Durham at Old Trafford. John Crawley's 158 helped them to 437, and Chris Schofield added three second-innings wickets to his five in the first as Durham were bowled out for 197 to lose by an innings and 14 runs.
