From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pakistan's Mohammed Zahid destroyed New Zealand with a seven-wicket haul to complete a remarkable debut and square the series in the second and final Test in Rawalpindi yesterday.
His return of 7 for 66 that helped his side win with more than five sessions remaining, coupled with his first innings 4 for 64, made him the first Pakistan bowler to capture more than 10 wickets on his debut.
Resuming their second innings at 69 without loss, still 112 behind, the New Zealand openers Bryan Young and Justin Vaughan added 13 before Mohammed struck, trapping Vaughan lbw for 27.
Mohammed then grabbed the next four wickets in quick succession as New Zealand slumped to 119 for 5 with all hope gone. Young, who was the top scorer with 67, was among his early victims.
Generating considerable pace off the pitch, Mohammed wrapped up the innings by trapping Chris Harris and Dipak Patel lbw.
