From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chelmsford, from the Adnams East League, caused the major upset in yesterday's fifth-round Association Cup ties when they came from behind to beat the National Premier League side, Canterbury, 2-1.
After Mark Hollingworth had given Canterbury the lead in the eighth minute they lost their way, allowing Chelmsford to draw level a minute before the interval through Alan Thorogood, with Rob Hawkins getting the winner 14 minutes into the second half from only one of two penalty corners they were awarded.
Canterbury, on the other hand, were unable to beat Keith Wiggins, Chelmsford's cup specialist goalkeeper, at 15 corner attempts.
Slough's visit to Amiens ended in disappointment when they lost 5-4 to Campo Madrid in the play-off for the bronze medal at the women's European Indoor Club Championship. Slough had earlier lost 6-4 in the semi-finals to Russelsheim, who went on to retain their title in an all-German final by beating Berliner 7-6. Edinburgh won the B Division final in Brescia, Italy, 6-3 against Groningen from the Netherlands.
