From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Cannock look set to take their first National League title tomorrow when, as the final games are played, they effectively only need a point from their home game against Southgate to finish in top place, writes Bill Colwill. Should they fail, a win at Havant for second-placed Reading would see them to their first title.
Cannock have doubts about their winger Ben Sharpe who took a knock playing for England last weekend and John Mills. Both will have late fitness tests.
Havant have their captain, Peter Nail, and Scottish international Derek Cunliffe back in a full-strength squad where the result could well rest with the duel between Calum Giles, their penalty corner specialist, and Britain's goalkeeper, Simon Mason.
Hightown could win their first women's National League title following their games today against Ipswich and their rearranged game tomorrow against Balsam Leicester. Four points from the two games would be enough. They will be without their Great Britain player, Chris Cook.
Two other British players look like missing games this weekend. Slough's Karen Brown, is certainly out of today's game against Bracknell and Sutton Canada Life's goalkeeper Hilary Rose is doubtful.
