Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Bradford Bulls are poised to add another piece to their jigsaw of team rebuilding by signing Widnes's England full-back, Stuart Spruce.
The Widnes board were last night considering a pounds 120,000 offer for the player after turning down a bid from Wigan that included a player in part- exchange.
Bradford were in the market for a specialist full-back before Nathan Graham's accident-prone performance at Wembley last month. The belief is that with Spruce in the side Graham could slot into the team elsewhere.
The Bulls have let the former Widnes winger David Myers join Salford. Myers, who has also played for Warrington and Wigan as well as touring with Great Britain in 1992, has joined Salford on a one-year deal with an option for another.
Orrell, who have already signed the rugby league players David Lyon and Frano Botica for the winter season, have approached Salford about the former Welsh rugby union forward Richard Webster.
Nigel Wright, who broke his hand in a fall at home after a long absence from Wigan's side with a knee injury, is to see a specialist.
Tim Street may have lost his job as Leigh captain after just one game. Street was sent off for abusing the referee in the loss to Chorley on Sunday. His coach, Eric Hughes, is considering taking the job from him.
