BRITAIN WIN SWIMMING BRONZE AT STUDENT WORLD GAMES

Britain won their first medal at the World Games in Fukuoka, Japan yesterday - a swimming bronze in the women's 4x200m freestyle, courtesy of Helen Billington, Helen Jepson, Lucy Findlay and Joanne Deakins. The British football team's 4-2 victory over Brazil, a win they needed to stay in the competition, was marred by David Norman suffering a broken leg.

Under 72-kg: S Yoshida (Japan) bt L Castellanos (Cuba) by yuko. Over 72-kg: G Beltran (Cuba) bt M Kolodziejczyk (Pol) by hantei.
