Campbell overcomes penalty
Michael Campbell, of New Zealand, shrugged off a two-stroke penalty yesterday and scored a four-under-par 68 to take the lead at the $400,000 Alfred Dunhill Masters in Jakarta, Indonesia. Campbell's total of 202 was one stroke better than the Australian Craig Parry, who scored a course record of 65 a day earlier but hit a par 72 on the third day. Campbell was penalised two strokes for touching sand at a bunker in a backswing at the 209-yard par-three fourth hole. "I didn't feel anything at all - when I was in sand. It was their word against mine," said the 26-year-old Campbell, who blasted out of the greenside trap and two-putted. He was not aware that his club had made contact with the sand, but accepted the word of Greg Chalmers, his Australian playing partner, and Parry's brother-caddie Glenn as they made their way down the fifth fairway.
