Manny Pacquiao looks set to fight Floyd Mayweather for a second time after defeating Adrien Broner in Las Vegas.

Mayweather was ringside to watch Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in the history of the sport, win at the MGM Grand and the Filipino now hopes he will get the chance to avenge the sixth defeat of his professional career later this year.

The undefeated Mayweather will meanwhile look to extend his flawless professional record to 51-0 when he returns to the ring for the first time since August 2017, when he knocked out UFC world champion Conor McGregor, who was making his professional boxing debut.

The first boxing match between Mayweather and Pacquiao was one of the most anticipated sports events in history, with the American winning by unanimous decision.

What happened in the first fight?

Mayweather won by unanimous decision.

The fight was one of the most anticipated events in the history of the sport, but was considered a letdown by most.

An incredibly defensive Mayweather managed to stay out of Pacquiao’s way for the vast majority of the fight, with two judges scoring the contest 116-112 and the other 118-110.

What are their records?

Pacquiao’s victory over Broner saw him extend his professional record to 61-7-2.

Mayweather is undefeated with a record of 51-0.

How many people watched the first fight?

The fight broke pay-per-view records in the United States with 4.6m buys and over $410m in revenue, surpassing the previous record of $150m set when Mayweather defeated Canelo Alvarez.

What was said after the fight?

Mayweather: “[Pacquiao] definitely had his moments in the fight. As long as I moved on the outside, I was able to stay away from those. He’s a really smart fighter ... My dad wanted me to do more, but I had to take my time. Because Manny Pacquiao is a competitor, and he’s extremely dangerous.”

Pacquiao: “I thought I won the fight. He’s moving around. It’s not easy to throw punches when he’s moving around so much ... I thought I caught him many more times than he caught me.”
