From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Khan has said there is now “nothing can stop” the fight from taking place which is expected to be announced for a date in January or February next year on Sky Sports Box Office.
"He's agreed to be 147," Khan told Sky Sports. "And also to have a rehydration clause of 10lbs. I'm happy with that.
"If he's happy to take that, so am I. That fight can happen then 147 it is, and we're with the same promotional team, so that makes the fight even easier. Let's see what happens.
"It’s a fight I would love to have, and I think it would make a lot of money financially for both fighters, but at the same time it would be a massive fight in the UK. It's a fight that the fans want. Why not make it happen?
The domestic dust-up had been mooted for a number of years before both boxers were on the wrong end of stoppage losses.
Khan was knocked out by WBC & WBA Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez in 2016 and Brook has been stopped by both Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr. in the last two years.
But this year Khan announced he was teaming up with Eddie Hearn after returning from his stint on I'm a celebrity, get me out of here! meaning their problematic promotional differences could be set aside.
Brook stepped up to the 154lbs division on the back of his defeat to Spence but has agreed to return to welterweight and adhere to a rehydration limit to prevent him dramatically increasing in size on the night of the fight.
The fight was originally thought to be planned for December 15th, but that blueprint was derailed after a packed pay-per-view month which will see bouts between Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury, Josh Warrington vs Carl Frampton, Rocky Fielding vs Canelo Alvarez and possibly a rematch between Dillian Whyte vs Dereck Chisora.
Khan last fought in September when he defeated Samuel Vargas by unanimous points decision after suffering a knockdown scare in the second round while Brook last fought in March when he wiped out Siarhei Rabchanka in just two rounds.
