COLIN McMILLAN, the former World Boxing Organisation featherweight champion, is moving his career on to a new level by managing Britain's newest professional, Adrian Dodson.

The two are close friends and McMillan believes he can successfully combine this new move with his career inside the ring. 'If ever mine is compromised we shall go our separate ways,' he said. McMillan is preparing for his own comeback after losing his title when he dislocated a shoulder in a fight against Rueben Palacio, of Colombia, three months ago.

Dodson, a 22-year-old Guyana- born Londoner who will operate at light-middleweight, has fought in two Olympics. He was strongly tipped for a medal at the Barcelona Games last summer but was beaten in his second welterweight bout.' Colin is a role model and I am sure we can work together successfully,' Dodson said. 'I thought about going for a third Olympics, but this is the right move for me. I just want to be the best and be remembered as the best.'

Dodson could make his professional debut on the undercard of Riddick Bowe's world heavyweight title defence against Michael Dokes at New York's Madison Square Garden on 6 February. Dodson, who is studying for a degree in business administration at a London college, is being backed by a consortium of unnamed professional sportsmen and his agent, Ambrose Mendy, said he had been guaranteed pounds 800,000 over three years.
