Stephen Catton is the new chief executive of the British Association. The 36-year-old director of the association's Outdoor Initiative takes up his new post next month.

Charles O Finley, one of the most colourful team owners in recent baseball history, died on Monday of heart disease. He was 77. Finley's Oakland A's won three consecutive World Series from 1972-74 and five straight divisional titles.
