Your support makes all the difference.OXFORD'S Jodi Evans created history by becoming the first woman to play in a men's team in the Varsity basketball match at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge, yesterday. Here, the 24-year-old Canadian international, a Rhodes Scholar at Magdalen College, supports her team-mates, Steve Riley (No 4) and Nick Mamakos as Paul McErlean, of Cambridge, disputes possession. Oxford, however, were trounced 86-64 with Evans contributing four points (two from a basket, two from free throws). Oxford did not fare any better in the women's match: they lost that 72-48. The basketball was part of the Varsity Games, which this year is celebrating its 21st anniversary. It continues until Saturday 6 March. Other events were also dominated by Cambridge although the Dark Blues did manage to claim victories in the women's table tennis and men's swimming.
