Baseball: Berryhill leads the onslaught
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

'It felt outstanding,' said Berryhill, who is playing only because Atlanta's No 1 catcher Greg Olson is injured. Berryhill praised Glavine, saying: 'He had all his pitches working tonight, and that was outstanding.' Glavine yielded no walks while striking out six for Atlanta, who lost the seventh and deciding game of last year's World Series to the Toronto starter Jack Morris, then with the Minnesota Twins.
Morris came in with a 4-0 World Series record with the Detroit Tigers and the Twins and his 10-inning, 1-0 shutout of the Braves last year enhanced his reputation as the ultimate post- season campaigner. But in this game he lost his command.
Morris cruised through the first three innings, but he started falling behind in the fourth. Morris threw 98 pitches in six innings, 44 of them balls.
Berryhill's homer snapped an 18-inning World Series scoreless streak for Morris and a 19-inning World Series scoreless streak for the Braves, both dating back to last year. Joe Carter had given the Jays a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when he homered to left-centre for his third home run in post- season play.
