Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 37-year-old former Olympic champion took the 100 metres in the Golden Gala at a rainswept Olympic stadium in a time of 10.20sec, 0.03sec faster than he had run in winning at Hengelo on Saturday.
Christie had to stay ahead of the two Nigerians, Deji Aliu and Davidson Ezinwa, who were also credited with 10.20.
The Briton followed up with a 20.67sec 200m, taking fourth place behind Namibia's Olympic silver medallist, Frankie Fredericks, who recorded 20.24.
Sally Gunnell, running her first international 400m hurdles since being carried from the Olympic track in Atlanta, finished fifth behind Morocco's Nezha Bidouane, who overhauled the US world champion, Kim Batten. Gunnell said: "The good thing is I got through the race without any pain whatsoever."
