Ato Boldon posted the third-fastest 200 metres ever yesterday, the Trinidad & Tobago sprinter's 19.77 seconds at the Stuttgart international meeting coming two weeks before the World Championships in Athens.

Boldon also won the 100m in 9.90, easily beating the United States champion, Maurice Greene, who finished in 10.04.

Also in startling form was the American Allan Johnson, whose 12.97 in the 110m hurdles missed the world record held by Britain's Colin Jackson by 0.06 seconds.

The world champion, Cuba's Ana Fidelia Quirot, captured the 800m in 1min 55.78sec to lower the year's best, set by Britain's Kelly Holmes, by more than a second.
