From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Victories in the singles and fours final of the World Championships in Adelaide yesterday allowed England to leave Australia in jubilant mood. They also collected silver in the overall team competition.
The first medal came in the fours, with Brett Morley and David Cutler, John Bell and Andy Thomson leading from the opening end on the way to a 20-9 victory over the Welsh rink of Chris Blake, Jason Davies, Will Thomas and Robert Weale.
The England rink claimed three of the opening four ends for a 7-1 lead and were always in control. "It's a great thrill, particularly to come to Australia and win, but I think we deserved it - we were the best side in the championship," Thomson, the England captain, said.
Tony Allcock completed the double triumph by retaining his title in the singles, overcoming Israel's Geoff Rabkin 25-15. Allcock, who took gold at Worthing four years ago, became the first holder to retain his title.
