From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With royal wedding fever gripping not just the nation but the world, nearly every bakery, party shop and restaurant is cashing in on the impending nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19.

In fact, around £70m worth of merchandise is expected to be sold in the UK in celebration of the wedding. That's a lot of bunting.

Of course, royal fans will be able to get their hands on commemorative coins, flags, mugs, balloons, stamps and posters to mark the occasion.

But whilst the official items have been approved by the couple, there are many other less traditional - often somewhat tenuous - royal wedding-themed products that have been launched to mark the historic day.

Here are some of the most bizarre royal wedding-themed products and launches on offer:

Sausages

Yorkshire sausage maker HECK has created a majestic recipe celebrating the transatlantic union that is the royal wedding. Pork sausages with sweet ginger and American mustard, they’re actually very delicious.

Beer

Made using barley grown locally on the Royal Farms in Windsor and hops from the west coast of the US, the royal wedding pale ale called “Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot” has been brewed to give the traditional British pint a U.S. twist.

Colouring books

(Orion
(Orion (Orion)

Sure, colouring books are a bit 2016, but that hasn’t stopped publisher Orion creating one to allow fans to “colour in Harry and Meghan’s Hollywood romance” through pictures of the couple recreating iconic scenes from films. Naturally.

Hot dogs

(Bubbledogs)
(Bubbledogs) (Bubble Dogs)

If hot dogs weren’t already American enough, London’s gourmet hotdog and champagne bar Bubbledogs has created a special “Fourth of July” dog, featuring southern BBQ sauce, coleslaw and crispy bacon, which is served with a glass of English sparkling wine for £10.

Peg dolls

(Cotton Twist
(Cotton Twist (Cotton Twist)

If you’ve always wanted to add a touch of royalty to your laundry line, now you can, with “make your own” Harry and Meghan royal wedding peg dolls.

Éclairs
