Meghan Markle has chosen not to have a maid of honour at her wedding to Prince Harry, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace has confirmed.

This is because the bride-to-be felt she couldn’t choose between her most-valued friends, the Daily Telegraph reports.

“She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another,” revealed a spokesperson for the Palace.

Out of those expected to attend in an unofficial capacity, the actress and humanitarian is likely to be joined on the day by a number of close friends including Priyanka Chopra, stylist Jessica Mulroney, author Lindsay Roth and True Blood star, Janina Gavankar.

“All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand,” the spokesperson added.

“She’s very happy to have their support”.

After much speculation as to who Markle’s bridesmaids will be, it has also been revealed that she will only have children in her bridal party.

Names are to be confirmed but likely inclusions are Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Harry’s godchildren in addition to some of the children of her closest friends.

All of the children involved will arrive at St George’s Chapel with Markle prior to walking down the aisle.

The news regarding Markle’s bridal party comes after a series of announcements regarding the royal wedding were made by Kensington Palace regarding the day’s proceedings.

The bride-to-be will be walked down the aisle by her father, Thomas Markle, who will arrive in the UK with mother Doria Ragland a week prior to the big day.

According to the Palace’s statement, both parents will have “important roles: to play in the wedding.
