We're loving... JME

Celebrity-endorsed products are by no means a rarity, and, more often than not, they are disappointing rather than life-changing. It's something of a pleasant surprise, then, that Jamie Oliver, who is not particularly discerning when it comes to attaching his name to things, has brought out a new JME range, which emphasises ethically manufactured and locally sourced products rather than the usual drab fare. The highlights of the range include sleek, sustainable beechwood pepper grinders and salt mills, an oak carving board (replete with metal spikes to hold your chosen bird or beast in place) and this fancy oak antipasti serving platter. They may be considered luxury items (all cost in excess of £40) but they are all handmade and it shows. www.jamieoliver.com

We're hating... gardening

With spring only 10 weeks away, it's time to look at your garden. Should you require persuasion to brave the elements, then this colourful gardening kit should provide ample incentive. Available from www.littlebluesheep.co.uk for £23.50, it includes a trug, kneeling mat, trowel, fork, pruning shears, dibber, plant labels and two sets of gloves (lightweight and heavyweight) for landscaping a flowerbed or pruning a window box. It's only available in pink, so it's a perfect gift for Valentine's Day or Mother's Day.

We're buying... the ecocamel

A shower head that saves money and water while still providing power-shower-like force seems a tall order, but this is what the ecocamel claims to deliver. The aerated shower head (air is inhaled at the base of the attachment and mixed with the water to increase pressure) typically uses half the water used by a normal shower, according to researchers at the University of Liverpool. They also deduced that it could save a family of four £250 a year. £24.95 from www.ecocamel.co.uk.
