Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Design fans head to the US West Coast next week to explore (and buy!) the latest products.

Restaurant Design Awards
June 22
London, UK

The independent prize bestowed by a panel of the UK's leading design editors will be awarded to the most stylish bars and restaurants around the world. While most categories - such as those for the best independent restaurant, hotel bar, or lighting scheme - are open to UK submissions only (and have attracted entries by the likes of Zaha Hadid despite the prize only being in its second year), two of the awards are reserved for international establishments.

More than 200 brands will feature in design-forward exhibits, competitions, and over 80 presentations and panels by design-industry leaders over the course of the three days. Serpentine Gallery Pavilion opens
July 5 - October 20
London, UK

In what will be Jean Nouvel's first completed building in the UK, the new pavilion is designed to be a contrast of metal structures and lightweight materials in a bright red, inspired by London's post boxes, buses, and telephone boxes. Serving as a public space on the gallery's lawn, it will host a café and Serpentine's Park Nights, a talk and events series that attracts up to 250,000 visitors every summer.
