Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In the week before the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), August 13-18, a team of expert judges has awarded seven participating exhibitors "SustainAbility 3" status - the highest ranking in the show's Degrees of SustainAbility initiative.
Two editions of the NYIGF are held each year, with products on display ranging from home furnishings to fashion accessories and pet products. Over 35,000 professionals attend.
The seven exhibitors and products awarded "SustainAbility 3" status at this summer's event were selected from over 200 designers participating in the eco-themed SustainAbility: design for a better world display at the NYIGF.
Each exhibitor was scored on the sustainable nature of their products, production process and business practices by a team of expert judges including members of environmental marketing agency Terrachoice.
The companies awarded "SustainAbility 3" status and those participating in the SustainAbility: design for a better world exhibit all produce eco-friendly products and use green production practices, and the majority of exhibitors also engage in fair-trade, sustainable or philanthropic business practices.
The seven companies and products awarded "Sustainability 3" status, announced August 5, are: 80 Acres of McEvoy Ranch (blood orange personal body care), Aid to Artisans (recycled drinking cups), Annie Catherine (By the Sea note card set), Harry Barker (Carolina Canines for Veterans dog treats), Potting Shed Creation (Christmas Gift Collection plant growing kits), Sobral USA (Pop Art Collection vegetable resin-based jewelry) and Tay Skincare (Tay Revitalizing Skincare).

Later in the year, eco-friendly products will also be on display as part of the Green Line range at the Maison et Objet exhibition in Paris from September 9-13. For more information see http://www.maison-objet.com.
