Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Europe's largest design event, I Saloni, is taking place April 14-19. Here is what designers have in store this year.

Moritz Waldemeyer for Audi

Located at the headquarters of Ermenegildo Zegna, in Milan's creative hub, the Tortona district, Waldemeyer's Lucid Flux project is meant to demonstrate the aerodynamic efficiency of the carmaker's A1 and A8 models: 2,000 lights will form abstract patterns, and an interactive text display will call on visitors to submit their fondest car memories, all designed to go with Audi's motto of ‘lifetime companionship.'

Another light installation will be set up by designer Omer Arbel together with manufacturer Bocci at the Spazio Rosanna Orlandi.

Tokujin Yoshioka for Swarovski Crystal Palace

The collaboration has not been officially announced, but respected design blog Core77 reports: "The two pieces share a visual sensibility, but come from different conceptual places. The massive chandelier, Stella, takes its cues from a star shining outwards, emitting many rays of light in space. The "Venus" chair - this is awesome - is grown in an aquarium bath filled with tiny natural crystals, an extension of an earlier exploration."

A new space for MissoniHome

The brand's new showroom opens its doors at 22 Viale Elvezia, opposite the Arena, close to the Garibaldi district. Sure to develop into one of the design scene's meeting points at the fair, the new space will host lifestyle, furnishing and outdoor products as well as the brand's classic home textiles and linen.
