Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The jury of experts examined innovative products ranging from outdoor heating to lounge furniture from companies around the world, before finally selecting their "top ten garden products" of the Spoga Gafa trade show which was held in Cologne September 5-7.
A reccurring theme in the jury's list was that of "the lounge outside," innovative and chic products that were comfortable as well as functional and gave gardens the feel of a living room.
Examples of these products selected by the jury include the "Modena lounge" by Garden Impressions - this outdoor seating and table set includes large padded cushions which can be stored away within the furniture when not in use.
The jury also selected "Cloud" - an upholstered but 100% waterproof sofa and table set by Gloster, and the "Tortuga Tobacco" outdoor armchair designed by Münchener Boulevard Möbel GmbH. Both are designed to make homeowners treat their garden area as an extension of their living space.
These products and others symbolize what the experts predict will be the big trend in garden furniture for summer 2011 - functionality, comfort and an extension of the home into the outdoors.
Innovative and luxury products in the area of home design were also recently on exhibition at the Maison & Objet trade show in the Paris area September 3-7.
