Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Here are some of the biggest international design events coming up over the next weeks.

2nd Clerkenwell Design Week
May 24-26
London, UK

Following its successful inauguration last year, the design fair is back, again staging workshops, exhibitions, street parties, and debates across one of the most creative areas of the British capital. The House of Detention, an underground Victorian prison, joins the event for the first time, hosting product displays and installations.

Ideal Home Show Scotland
May 27-30
Glasgow, Scotland

This, the Scottish version of the popular Ideal Home Show (held in London March 11-27), is expected to attract around 400 domestic and international exhibitors. Highlights of this year's show include The Ideal Home of the Future sponsored by Virgin, the How-to Theatre - which offers visitors DIY tips - and the Dulux Let's Colour Studio which provides visitors with advice on color schemes. In terms of content and size the event is smaller than The Ideal Home Show held in London but similar to Grand Designs Live (held in London April 30- May 8).

Interior Lifestyle Tokyo

June 1-3
Tokyo, Japan

A design-oriented trade fair for the high-end Japanese interior market, last year's event attracted upwards of 80,000 visitors. Interior Life Style is a combination of two other Messe Frankfurt trade fairs - Ambiente and Heimtextil. Focused on Japanese, rather than international trends, the event showcases the latest designs for the kitchen and dining area as well as home accessories and textiles.

Berlin, Germany

This year's event puts a spotlight on the cultural impact of design with a central exhibition of pioneering products by more than 400 designers, as well as a symposium, a series of open design workshops, an award ceremony and satellite exhibitions. With Helsinki as the World Capital of Design in 2012, the fair's regional focus concentrates on the Nordic countries.
