Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Suttons, Dobies and Mr Fothergill's now send out catalogues listing young plants for gardeners who don't want to grow from seed. They come in several forms: the smallest and cheapest are mini-plants which you need to order early and grow on before planting out in May. Bigger plants are supplied later in the season, ready to plant out straightaway (though I'd always plant them up in pots and give them a chance to get their roots sorted first).
From Mr Fothergill's (mr-fothergills.co.uk), you can get gazanias 'Daybreak Tiger Mixed F1' as mini-plugs (50 for £7.95), standard plugs (30 for £8.95) or large plugs (20 for £9.95). Last order date for mini-plugs is end of March, with plants sent out from late March. Standard plugs can be ordered up to the middle of April and are despatched early April onwards. Last orders for large plugs is early May, with despatch from mid-May.
