New York (Reuter) - More than 100 Yanomami Indians were slaughtered this month in a remote corner of Brazil's Amazon jungle, far more than reported earlier, according to the United Nations.
The death toll, which UN officials said had been checked with Brazilian diplomats, came in a revised statement from the Secretary-General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, who extended 'heartfelt condolences' to the Yanomami tribe.
