BAGHDAD - The UN disarmament envoy in Iraq, Rolf Ekeus, said yesterday he had sought assurances that demonstrations would not hamper UN efforts to inspect the Agriculture Ministry in Baghdad for evidence of weapons, Reuter reports.
UN weapons inspectors moved into the ministry yesterday after a three-week delay while thousands of people demonstrated outside. The inspectors searched for more than six hours and said they would continue today.
