Your support makes all the difference.Two British aid workers were killed on the road into Sarajevo early yesterday when their truck rolled over a cliff after dodging Bosnian Serb gunfire, writes Christopher Bellamy.
They were on the final treacherous downhill stretch of the route into the city over Mount Igman, which evades Serb checkpoints, when their truck was caught in a skirmish. It accelerated to avoid gunfire but then slipped over the cliff, killing the driver and co-driver.
The two men were named last night as Neil Golightly, 34, from Glasgow and Tony Richards, 46, from Godalming in Surrey. They were working for Phoenix, a small aid agency based in Farnham, Surrey, which provides transport for aid within Bosnia, and had been carrying supplies donated by the George Soros foundation in New York.
