Your support makes all the difference.JAKARTA (Reuter) - President Suharto, Indonesia's ruler for the past 27 years, was re-elected yesterday for another five-year term, and immediately chose his recently retired military chief as vice- president. The President's election by the 1,000-member People's Consultative Assembly, more than half of whom are appointed, was a foregone conclusion.
Since rising to power in 1965, when he led the army to crush a coup, he has stood unopposed in six elections. The assembly chairman, Wahono, said: 'Since there was only one candidate, according to the law he is automatically formalised as president.'
