Your support makes all the difference.A military court sentenced seven Egyptian Muslim fundamentalists to death yesterday for attacking foreign tourists and conspiring to topple the government, Reuter reports from Heikstep, Egypt. The court also passed life sentences on three defendants. A further 22 were given jail terms ranging from 2 to 15 years; 17 others were found not guilty.
All were accused of plotting to overthrow the government, organising a banned group, attacking tourists to damage tourism and the economy, and illegal possession of arms. Those condemned to death were also charged with five specific gun and bomb attacks on tourists which killed a British woman, Sharon Hill, and wounded nine other foreigners.
