Your support makes all the difference.TOKYO (Reuter) - Japan's latest corruption scandal claimed a second prominent victim yesterday when a regional governor said he was stepping down following reports that he took undeclared political funds.
The Governor of Niigata, Kiyoshi Kaneko, resigned five days after Shin Kanemaru, Japan's most powerful politician, quit as the vice-president of the ruling party after admitting that he took 500m yen ( pounds 2.1m) in undeclared contributions from a trucking group. With about a dozen senior Liberal Democratic Party figures implicated in the affair, many more officials may be forced to resign.
