A Russian pickpocket has been captured on CCTV stealing from a woman that queue-jumped in a hospital waiting room.

The woman can be seen speaking with a receptionist as the opportunistic pickpocket grabs her wallet out of her bag and reportedly steals 1000 Roubles (around £10).

The man carefully places the wallet back in her bag - the woman completely unaware she had been pickpocketed.

Soon after, the criminal spots a surveillance camera; rattled, he asks a friend for a cigarette before leaving the room.

The incident took place at a hospital in Yekaterinburg, central Russia.

The footage was widely shared on social media leading to the man handing himself into police.

E1.ru reports that the man has had previous robbery-related “run-ins” but the reason for pickpocketing the woman was a “spontaneous desire.”

It is reported he is now under house arrest pending an upcoming trial.
