Islamabad - Pakistani authorities have banned the entry of nearly 40 "inflammatory" Muslim religious scholars from Punjab into the country's troubled province of Sind for three months. The ban is part of nationwide measures, including a police alert, to avert sectarian trouble at Shia Muslim religious ceremonies during Moharram, the first month of the Islamic calender, due to start this week. The scholars were likely to stir "hatred and ill-will" between different sects through "inflammatory speeches" and other activities, the Sind provincial government said. AFP
