A former Miss Poland was fatally stabbed as she was getting into her car in front of her home in the south-western town of Wroclaw, police said yesterday. Agnieszka Kotlarska, 24, (pictured below), a former Versace model, had narrowly missed death on 17 July when she cancelled her booking for the TWA Flight 800 that crashed off Long Island, New York. She was stabbed three times in the chest on Tuesday by a man who "claimed he had known her for some time and wanted to talk to her", said police. Her husband of four years, whose name was withheld to shield his privacy, tried to protect her and was stabbed in the thigh.
After the attack, Ms Kotlarska was taken to a hospital where she died from loss of blood. Based partly on the husband's testimony, police said they had arrested the attacker, identified only as Jerzy L. During her four years as a Versace model, Ms. Kotlarska lived in the United States and appeared regularly in Vogue magazine. AP - Warsaw
