Two army officers jailed for the murder in 1989 of six Jesuit priests were freed on Thursday under a controversial amnesty for El Salvador's war criminals, Reuter reports from San Salvador.
Colonel Guillermo Benavides and Lieutenant Yusshy Mendoza were freed just 15 months after being convicted and sentenced to 30 years each for the killings.
