BEIRUT (Reuter) - Two Christian ministers in the Lebanese government announced their resignations in protest against the government's decision to go ahead with elections opposed by the majority of the Christian community.

The Posts and Communications Minister, George Saadeh, the head of the main Christian party the Phalange, resigned. The Foreign Minister, Faris Bouez, said he too was quitting the Syrian-backed cabinet. 'From the beginning I worked to postpone the elections and to try to make everyone think about the danger that comes from such elections,' he said.
