From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Russian citizens will today get a chance to question their leader, Vladimir Putin, about how much he knows about the shooting of MH17, how much he dislikes Barack Obama and who exactly murdered prominent opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.
Or rather, the Kremlin has sifted through nearly two million emails, video messages and texts to decide which questions are the easiest to answer, will ensure Russians feel better about the economy and inflate the ego of their dear master.
The annual Q&A certainly gives Putin sufficient air time. Last year he spoke for nearly four hours while in 2013 he managed four hours 47 minutes, a Vladimir record. A call centre in Moscow said 200,000 questions were submitted in the first hour of lines opening and Edward Snowden participated in the event last year.
The televised phone-in begins at 12pm Moscow time - 10am in London - and can be watched live below:
