Your support makes all the difference.BRATISLAVA - The Slovakian Prime Minister, Vladimir Meciar, said yesterday that his government was ready to lift restrictions on the rights of ethnic Hungarians in Slovakia, in accordance with the Council of Europe's demands, AFP reports.
Speaking after a meeting with the Austrian Foreign Minister, Alois Mock, he said Slovakia would lift restrictions on the use of Hungarian first names by the 600,000-strong minority. Slovakia wants to join the Council, but has been prevented from doing so because of its perceived discrimination against minorities.
